The FutureHack challenge is currently accepting and reviewing applications to be shortlisted as part of its July 2019 hackathon event.
As compensation, a N3 million reward has been set aside to celebrate winning and innovative ideas in education, agriculture, and health. Read further to find out if you meet the basic criteria to proceed with your application. Â
What you should know: The national technology hackathon, which is a brainchild of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), seeks to engage, collaborate, mentor, and reward computer programmers and others involved in software development, graphics design, interface design, project management, domain experts, etc. This will follow a collaborative session on software development projects.
What you stand to benefit: While the tech event is aimed at local content development, idea hunting and entrepreneurial partnership, winners will be rewarded with a cash prize of about N3 million. Other pecks include participation business incubation programmes, amongst others.
The theme: This year, the main focus is to find clearly-defined ideas and prototypes on e-Health, e-Education and e-Agriculture. Participants are allowed to express creativity and are encouraged to develop unique solutions with an emphasis on using the latest technology.
Where/when is it happening: This year, 3 editions of the FutureHack challenge will be held in the North-Central, North-West and South-West. See embedded fliers for details.

- Drug abuse
- Patient care and management
- Healthcare in rural areas
- Sanitation in healthcare facilities
- Epidemics
- Hazardous working conditions
- Mental health and suicides
For eAgriculture, identified problem areas include:
- Climate change
- Carbon emission
- Genetically modified crops (GMO)
- Disease control
- Emergency Response
For eEducation, identified problem areas include:
- In and out of school children and youth
- Quality assurance and quality control in education
- Gender divide in education and ICT
- Affordable quality education
- Teacher traning/recertification
