- According to the presidency, Aliyu has experience spanning academia, research, and public sector administration.
- He is expected to oversee the fund’s programmes in training, scholarship administration, and institutional support for the oil and gas sector.
In a separate development, President Tinubu renewed the appointment of Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as head of the TCN for a second and final term.
The presidency stated that the decision followed an assessment of his performance in managing the country’s transmission network. During his tenure, the TCN has implemented projects aimed at improving grid stability, expanding transmission capacity, and upgrading infrastructure.
Abdulaziz has over three decades of experience in the power sector and has also been involved in regional electricity initiatives, including the West African Power Pool (WAPP).
The TCN is responsible for the bulk transmission of electricity generated by power plants to distribution companies, making it a critical component of Nigeria’s electricity value chain.
Both appointments come amid ongoing efforts by the federal government to strengthen institutions in the energy and power sectors, with a focus on improving operational efficiency and service delivery.
The presidency stated that the appointees are expected to carry out their responsibilities in line with national policy objectives.
