The 2025 Nigerian action-comedy Gingerrr has emerged as a standout hit at the box office, blending suspense, comedy, and mystery into a high-stakes heist story. Written by Xavier Ighorodje, the film follows four friends united by a common goal to escape their pasts through a daring heist, only for their partnership to be tested by hidden agendas and personal secrets.
Executively produced by Ope Ajayi, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie), Bisola Aiyeola, Wumi Toriola, Bolaji Ogunmola, and Creative Catalyst, and co-produced by Onyeka Nnama under COTS Production, the film was directed by Yemi Morafa and distributed nationwide by Cinemax. The cast includes Nollywood stars such as Bisola Aiyeola, Bolaji Ogunmola, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, Wumi Toriola, Timini Egbuson, Odunlade Adekola, and Lateef Adedimeji.
Premiering on September 21, 2025, at IMAX Lekki and officially releasing nationwide on September 26, Gingerrr opened to N82 million and reached N378 million within five weeks.
