Equity market closes first trading week of 2022 on a positive note

Nigerian Bourse begins week on a negative note as Market Capitalization declines N19.51 billion

The trading week has come to a close on a positive note amidst sell-offs and buy-interests as the benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 57 basis points.

The NGX ASI closed at 43,854.42 points, to reflect a growth of 0.57% from the previous trading day and a Year-to-Date (YTD) return of 2.66%. Meanwhile, the market capitalization increased by N130.75 billion.

At the close of market on Friday, 7th January 2022, the stock exchange market value currently stands at N23.67 trillion from N23.50 trillion in the previous trading day.

The market breadth closed positive as MEYER led 31 gainers, and 9 losers topped by CHIPLC at the end of today’s session. The stock market has advanced 1,137.98 base points since the start of the year.

MEYER up +10.00% to close at N0.55
CORNERST up +10.00% to close at N0.55
ARDOVA up +9.92% to close at N13.85
BUAFOODS up +9.92% to close at N53.20
PZ up +9.84% to close at N6.70

CHIPLC down –9.59% to close at N0.66
SOVRENINS down – 7.14% to close at N0.26
UPDC down – 3.28% to close at N1.18
JBERGER down – 2.46% to close at N21.80
REGALINS down – 2.08% to close at N0.47
