Gains from Nigerian pharmaceutical stocks curb the bearish trend

Nigerian bourse ended today’s trading session on a flat note, as the All Share Index finished 0.00%, to close at 24,173.53points.  

Market activity improved, compared to the previous trading session, as total volume and value increased by 32.37% and 39.34% to 402.63million units and N4.55billion. UACN was the most traded by volume at 136.77million units and NB was the most traded by value at N1, 631.44billion.

Market sentiment, as measured by market breadth, closed flat with 9 gainers against 9 losers. ETERNA and MAYBAKER were the top gainers of the day with +8.89% and +7.91% gains, while GLAXOSMITH and CHIPLC recorded the largest decline with -9.52% and -8.16% drop in share value. 

Top gainers 

ETERNA up 8.89% to close at N1.96, MAYBAKER up 7.91% to close at N3, NPFMCRFBK up 7.58% to close at N1.42, NEIMETH up 7.14% to close at  N1.5, FIDSON up 3.45% to close at N3,

Top losers 

GLAXOSMITH down 9.52% to close at N4.75, CHIPLC down 8.16% to close at N0.45, AFRIPRUD down 4.07% to close at N4.01, CAVERTON down 3.16% to close at N1.84, STERLNBANK down 3.28% to close at N1.18 

Outlook  

Nigerian bourse ended Wednesday trading session flat despite strong buying pressure from Nigeria’s leading pharmaceutical stocks. Nairametrics envisages cautious buying as market liquidity remains relatively low.
