The Nigerian stock market closed the day in the negative as the All Share Index and market capitalization dropped by -1.36%, to close at 22,470.79 and N11.710 trillion respectively, with investors losing N161.28 billion.
Activity level was mixed;Â volume traded fell by 19.52% to 201.47million units of shares, while value traded climbed by 44.42% to N3.358billion, in 3,381 deals.
Access Bank (+1.60%) was the most traded stock by volume at 48.80 million units, followed by GTB with 32.64 million units of trades.
Performance across sectors was bearish, except for the Banking index buoyed by +0.71% as STANBIC (+3.64%) and GUARANTY (+1.61%) gained. On the flip side, the Industrial, Consumer Goods, Energy and Insurance indices recorded losses and plunged by 3.82%, 3.30%, -0.20% and -0.07% respectively, as price decline befell the shares of BUACEMENT (-5.31%); DANDCEM (-3.31%); NESTLE (-6.66%); ARDOVA (-4.50%) and LINKASSURE (-8.62%).

Top gainersÂ
CADBURY up 9.52% to close at N6.9; VITA FOAM up 6.12% to close at N4.51; STANBIC up 3.64% to close at N28.5; WAPCO up 3.08% to close at N11.7, and GUARANTY up 1.61% to close at N18.9.
Top losers.
UACN down 10.00% to close at N6.75; ETI down 10.00% to close at N4.5; NESTLE down 6.67% to close at N910; DANGCEM down 3.31% to close at N131.5; and BUACEMENT down 5.31% to close at N33.
