Chief Mike Adenuga has fully redeemed his pledge of N1 billion to the Private Sector Coalition against COVID-19. Co-billionaire, Femi Otedola shared this information late Wednesday morning on his official Twitter handle, @realFemiOtedola, stating that Adenuga redeemed the pledge on Friday, April 3, 2020.
Otedola shared a letter from Sterling Bank Plc to Mike Adenuga Foundation, dated April 3, 2020, confirming that all transfers to the COVID-19 Relief Fund account had been effected.

The letter reads: “As you are well aware, we made bank drafts for the total sum of N1,000,000,000 (One Billion Naira Only) on the 30th of March, 2020 in favour of COVID-19 Relief Fund Account.
“We are pleased to confirm that we have wired the full value of the drafts N1,000,000,000 (One Billion Naira Only) to the beneficiary – CBN Account 1000014920: COVID-19 RELIEF FUND ACCOUNT as per your instruction, in spite of the limited banking services occasioned by the pandemic.”

Why the mix up? It would appear that the transfer effected by Sterling Bank Plc was effected after the Central Bank of Nigeria had compiled the lists of outstanding donations, hence the mix-up.
Recall that Femi Otedola had on Monday called out Mike Adenuga and other donors for not redeeming their pledges to the CBN/CACOVID relief fund as promised.
In his Twitter and Instagram posts, he said, “Not yet redeemed! Let our word be our bond, and redeem pledges to the Coalition Against COVID-19.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria at the close of business on Friday, April 3, 2020, listed a few donors yet to redeem their pledges. I encourage them to fast-track this intervention to save lives during this pandemic. Every life counts! @cacovidng …F.Ote?.”

He also shared the letter from CBN which listed four donors yet to redeem pledges as at the close of work on April 3.
Other outstanding donations listed include N1 billion promised by Lafarge Plc and MTN Nigeria Plc respectively and N400 million promised by John Coumantoras of Flour Mills Nigeria Plc.
