The Lagos State Government is set to start fumigation of public spaces in the state as it announced the purchase of some disinfecting equipment on Thursday. This announcement was made by the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in a post via his Instagram account.

In the post, Sanwo-Olu reiterated his commitment towards combating the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), as he emphasized the need for all public spaces in the state to be disinfected, fumigated and sterilized.

“We would continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic that is gradually seeping into our state. We would not relent in our efforts and we will not rest on our oars as we combat this disease.

“All hands will continuously be on deck until we are at zero new infections and ultimately zero transmission. We are aware that to totally rid our state of this scourge, all our public spaces must be disinfected, fumigated and sterilized.

“Therefore, we are deploying more of the disinfecting equipment to as many locations as possible within our state for disinfection and sterilization of all public spaces and surfaces. Aggressive times call for aggressive measures, therefore we will aggressively tackle this novel coronavirus and bring its catastrophic reign to a complete end,” the governor stated.

This comes shortly after the presidency started fumigation of the Presidential Villa.  Fumigation experts were said to have arrived at the Villa about 9.30 am today to commence the fumigation of all offices at the Villa.

The announcement by Governor Sanwo-Olu comes as no surprise due to the fact that a few days ago, a video which suggested fumigation in the state went viral on Instagram. The video captured some men fumigating the popular Stadium Bus Stop in the city.

It appears the Lagos State Government is taking more stringent measures to protect the lives of its citizens, as most of the coronavirus cases recorded in the country were confirmed in the state.
