The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended Friday’s trading session in negative territory. The All-Share Index closed at 27,146.57 basis points, down 0.39%. Year to date, the index is down by 13.63%.

Top Gainers

UAC of Nigeria Plc was the best-performing stock today. The stock gained 10% to close at N6.05. NPF Microfinance Bank Plc gained 9.73% to close at N1.24. Associated Bus Company Plc gained 9.38% to close at N0.35. Cornerstone Insurance Company Plc also gained 8% to close at N0.27. LASACO Assurance Plc rounded off the top five gainers for today. The stock gained 7.41% to close at N0.29.

Top Losers

On the flip side, Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc was the worst-performing stock, declining by 10% to close at N0.45. GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc fell by 9.49% to close at N7.15. Ecobank Transnational Inc fell by 7.14% to close at N7.15. NEM Insurance Plc fell by 6.84% to close at N1.77. Forte Oil Plc also rounded off the top five losers for the day. The stock shed 3.65% to close at N14.50.

Top Trades by Volume

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc was the most actively-traded stock today. 129.2 million shares valued at N3.4 billion were traded in 214 deals. Access Bank Plc was next with 59.5 million shares valued at N403.8 million traded in 392 deals, followed by Zenith Bank Plc with 31.3 million shares valued at N546.2 million traded in 261 deals.
FBN Holdings Plc was next with 15.2 million shares valued at N66.9 million traded in 358 deals. United Bank for Africa Plc rounded off the top five most actively traded stocks today with 14.5 million shares valued at N88.8 million traded in 224 deals.

Corporate Action

Access Bank Plc, has released its financial statements for the period ended June 30, 2019.


Gross Earnings increased from N253 billion in 2018 to N324.3 billion in 2019.

Profit before Tax increased from N45.8 billion in 2018 to N74.1 billion in 2019.

Profit after Tax also increased from N39.6 billion in 2018 to N63 billion in 2019
