Nigerian Stock Exchange has remained bearish for the third straight day

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended Wednesday’s trading session in negative territory. The All Share Index closed at 29,375.25 basis points, down 0.07%.

Year to date, the index is down 6.54%.

Top Gainers and Losers: Boc Nigeria Plc was the best performing stock today. The stock gained 9.93% to close at N4.54. Academy Press Plc also gained 9.68% to close at N0.34. Wapic Insurance Plc gained 9.30% to close at N0.47. Japaul Oil & Maritime Services Plc gained 8.70% to close at N0.25. Oando Plc was the last of the top five gainers for Wednesday by gaining 8.22% to close at N3.95.

On the flip side, Morison Industries Plc was the worst performing stock, declining by 10% to close at N0.54. Fidson Healthcare Plc also fell by 9.90% to close at N4.55. 11 Plc (Mobil) fell by 9.71% to close at N158. Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc fell by 9.09% to close at N0.20. Julius Berger Plc was the fifth of the top five losers for the day. The stock shed 8.90% to close at N19.95.

Top Trades by Volume: Morison Industries Plc was the most actively traded stock today. 44.5 million shares valued at N24 million were traded in 4 deals. United Bank of Africa Plc was next with 34.1 million shares valued at N209 million traded in 271 deals, followed by Sterling Bank Plc with 32 million shares valued at N168 million traded in 608 deals. Zenith Bank Plc was next with 28.1 million shares valued at N541 million traded in 477 deals. FBN Holdings Plc was the last of the top five most actively traded stocks on Wednesday with 20 million shares valued at N128 million traded in 263 deals.
