The new Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Capt Rabiu Yadudu, held a meeting on Thursday with the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and the Airline Operating Committee (AOC).
He said the purpose of the meeting was to re-affirm the agency’s commitment to the improvement of services at airports and to solicit airline operators’ cooperation and support.
New Plans: Yadudu stated that the new management would be more open to advice and constructive criticisms, and concentrate on delivering structured, time-bound, sustainable and improved services to all stakeholders.
He also stated that the agency is taking bold steps in addressing gaps in FAAN’s processes and procedures by collaborating with the International Civil Aviation Organisation, through its Airport Service Quality programme.
More Details: As part of the plans to improve airport services, a seminar would be organized for airlines, ground handling companies, financial institutions, airport towing companies, eatery operators, security companies, and car hire operators; especially those that have a greater interface with passengers. This will help analyse and evaluate contributions and responses that will actualise a favourable customer airport experience.
Meanwhile, reacting to a recent incident involving Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 777-300 aircraft which aborted landing in Lagos, the MD said the decision of the pilot to abort the first landing at the airport was the industry standard.
“A go-around is a normal procedure, not an abnormal situation. Even, abnormal situations are even catered for by the aircraft manufacturers and even the system. In all procedures, you have redundancy, which is also known as alternatives.”
About the New FAAN MD: As Nairametrics reported earlier this month, Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu recently succeeded Saleh Dunoma as the Managing Director (MD) of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Prior to his appointment, Yadudu was the Director of Operations at FAAN.
