The Federal Government has given the Cross River Garment Factory (certification) license to export its products beyond the shores of Nigeria to other parts of the world, like the US, Europe, Asia, and other parts of Africa.

Following an export registration certificate to the state Governor, Senator Ben Ayade by the Executive Director/CEO of Nigeria Export Promotion Council, Olusegun Awolowo. The export-license was issued to the Cross River Garment Factory on Tuesday, November 27 and presented to the State Government on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at the Cross River Garment Factory, Calabar by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).

Speaking during the presentation, the Executive Director/CEO of NEPC, Olusegun Awolowo, represented by the Regional Coordinator, South West, Babatunde Faleke, said the garment factory is now set to export its products to any part of the world after conducting a three weeks intensive training for the staff of the factory.

Awolowo said,

“It was a firm level training with essential determination to get the efficiency to be able to produce for export. It is an opportunity to take the factory to the next level. The Trainees were excited as they craved for more and their technical know-how has improved.”

On her part, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa described the export-licenced Garment factory as a pride to the state and nation at large.

She said the factory has the capacity to not only turnaround the economy of the state but also capable of fill the vacuum created by the loss of the state’s oil wells.

“Because it is now set for export, it will turn around the economy of this state. Most times we cry over the loss of oil wells but Ayade came, never cried over the loss and went on. This is a confirmation of his earlier statement that Cross River is not a poor state as with this, we will not be poor any longer,” Ita-Giwa said.
