The Board and Management of Berger Paints Nigeria Plc has notified the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) of the appointment of Ayokunle Ayoko as its Company Secretary and Legal Adviser.
Ayoko’s appointment has since been effective from September 17, 2018.
The newly appointed Secretary brings on board rich legal and company secretarial experience. Prior to joining Berger Paints Nigeria Plc, Ayoko served as Company Secretary to FBN General Insurance Limited, FBN Insurance Limited, FBN Insurance Brokers Limited.
About Ayokunle Ayoko
Ayoko is a qualified corporate solicitor with substantial experience in corporate/commercial practice; particularly in legal aspects of corporate finance, capital markets and cross-border M&A transactions.
He is proficient on transaction structuring, legal documentation and providing general legal advisory.
More recently, he has acquired significant experience in providing company secretarial and business advisory support to start-ups and established local and international investors within the Nigerian economy.
He is a consummate professional with over eleven years of cumulative experience acquired across several industries including finance, banking, capital market and aviation with specialties in the followings: Corporate Governance, Company Secretarial Practice, Legal Drafting, Litigation, Legal Advisory, Due Diligence, Arbitration, Negotiation and Dispute Resolution
Recall that the company, in a notice to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced the appointment of Abi Ayida as its new chairman.
Ayida’s appointment follows Oladimeji Alo’s retirement. Alo stepped down from the Board to enable him to attend to other commitments in the corporate world.
Berger Paints Nigeria Plc had released its unaudited interim financial statements for the six months ended June 30, 2018.
The company’s revenue stood at N1.64 billion as against N1.45 billion in 2017. Profit before tax increased by 23 per cent from N145 million in 2017 to N179 million. Profit after tax for the period also increased by 23 per cent from N99 million in 2017 to N121 million in 2018. Earnings per share rose from 34 kobo to 42 kobo.
