The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode has expressed the readiness of his administration to increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state in 2018.
Ambode gave this assurance during the grand finale of 2017 Community Day celebration in Lagos. He said it had become important that there is a phenomenal increase in Internal Generated Revenue so that more people could share in the cost of the wonderful transformation across the state.
Lagos leads on states Internal Generated Revenue.
Reports recently released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows that Lagos State generated a total of N168 billion in the third quarter ended September 2017 . It would be recalled that the state generated N302.42billion in 2016.The largest in the country.
Government commitment to development
Ambode, also hailed tax payers in the State for performing their civic obligations faithfully, noted that his government will continue to improve on the level of infrastructure in the state.
He also attributed the increase in revenue to public awareness campaigned embarked upon by the government revealed that efforts are in top gear to bring more people into the tax system.
Ambode, lauded the contribution of the communities for the success of his administration, noting that the Community Development Associations (CDAs) have increased from 3,000 to 3,900 within the period he assumed office to bring inclusive government and bringing communities to governance.
