In a notice sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), the management of MRS Oil Plc informed the investing public of the resignation of its Chairman Alhaji Sayyu Dantata. Alhaji Dantata will be replaced by Mr Patrice Alberti.
Sayyu Dantata acquired a majority stake in MRS Oil Plc in March 2009 through a shell company Corlay Global SA. Prior to establishing the MRS Group, Sayyu had worked with the Dangote Group as director of the engineering and transport division.
Alhaji Dantata is a mechanical Engineer. He started his career as the transport director with the Dangote group, one of Nigeria leading conglomerates and rose through the organization.
There after he started his own business and also sits as the Chief Executive Officer of the MRS Group.
Profile of the new Chairman
Mr Patrice Alberti is the Group Managing Director of MRS Group of companies and a director on the board of Corlay Global SA. Mr Patrice has a Bachelor in Economics from the Paris Academy and he has been with the MRS Group since 2004.Prior to that, he had worked in various banks in Europe including BNP Paribas and Banco Central SA.
About MRS Oil Plc
MRS Oil was established in 1978 and quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 1978 due to the indigenization degree of 1977. The company’s name was changed to Texaco Oil Nigeria Plc in 1990 Chevron Oil Nigeria Plc on the 1st of September 2006. Corlay Global SA acquired Chevron Africa’s holdings in 2009, and the name was once again changed to MRS Oil Nigeria PLC.
