The Buhari led government has been hit hard my militant attacks in the past few months negatively impacting on Nigeria’s oil revenue. Before now most of the bombings have taken place in the Southern part of Nigeria where Niger Delta Militants feel more disposed to operate.
Latest report of bombing in Ogun State shows that bombing appears to be coming closer to the South Western part of Nigeria. Media reports confirm that gas pipelines belonging to a subsidiary of NNPC in Ogun State was bombed on Thursday by suspected militants.
The report also shockingly claims that the suspected militants carried out its bombing activities in a rather uncanny way hoodwinking officials of the NNPC completely. Here is how Muyiwa Adejobi, a spokesman for Ogun state police explained it
“We were told that some guys came in two vehicles dressed as officials in charge of repairs and maintenance of the gas pipelines and then used dynamite to blow up the gas line belonging to a subsidiary of (state energy firm) NNPC,”
Is this the new way Militants get access to critical installations to enable them carry out bombing activities? Impersonating government officials to get access to critical installations and assets of the government is a dangerously new twist to bombing activities in Nigeria and should get government officials very worried.
