The Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mounir Gwarzo, says firms who are not listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) should not be favored on Government contracts to encourage new listings on the stock exchange.
The DG also said the FG should use incentives such as tax breaks to get the big Telcos (such as MTN, Glo, Etisalat and Airtel) and Discos and Gencos to list.
Gwarzo was speaking today at a press conference to mark the end of the capital market committee meeting for the 1st quarter of 2016.
Gwarzo outlined SEC Nigeria’s goals for 2016 to include:
è Getting the FG to buy into the capital market master plan.
è Issuing a sovereign Sukuk this year.
è Encouraging new listings.
è Increase the savings rate of Nigerians.
è Move ahead with the e-dividend programme.
