The Federal Government has been asked to expedite action on the construction of the 260-kilometre super highway, and Bakassi Deep Seaport both in Cross River State.
Governor Ben Ayade while discussing with the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita who was on a courtesy visit, stated that his administration desired that the Federal Government hasten action on the EIA report to enable his government commence construction in the state.
He requested that the HOS help the state to ensure timely approval of its documents before the Federal Ministry of Environment, giving the fact that the project would lead to development rather than harm to its citizens.
The state chief executive appreciated President Buhari for appointing indigenes of the state into prominent positions in the country and gave his commitment to protecting and adding value to the state through these projects.
“I want to put it on record that I have signature that is characteristic of me, to protect the environment. “There is no person outside our state that is better positioned to protect the environment than myself. For the superhighway, I have no intention to degrade the environment but to add value” he said’.
