Nigeria’s biggest aluminium producer, the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) in Akwa Ibom State will commence production soon.
Managing Director of ALSCON, Dimitry Zavyalov, made this statement while visiting the clan head of Ikot-Abasi where the multi-billion naira facility is located.
The Management of UC-RUSAL Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON), the new owners of ALSCON, will not relent in exploring available possibilities with appropriate authorities for ALSCON to come back to life,’’ he said
He was optimistic that the company would bounce back, despite the difficulties the company is facing.
Zayyalov highlighted the importance of aluminium and the technicalities involved. He said the production of aluminium products required professionals.
The Managing Director was quick to note that only committed workers would be re-absorbed when the company resumed production.
He said steps has been taken that would yield positive results for the company and the host community when production starts.
Zayyalov said negotiation for connection of the national grid to ALSCON was on. He reiterated the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN’s) commitment to completing work as planned.
