The Senate is currently conducting another another round of ministerial screening. Babatunde Fashola was one of those earlier screened today. Here are are some key answer given by him on some salient question from various senators.
ON HIS PERFORMANCE IN LAGOS
Fashola said: “I cannot take credit for the work in Lagos state. Our Work in Lagos was a Team Effort, I won’t appropriate personal responsibility for the Good Work.”
Fashola said “I saw criminals as my competitors because Government exists to protect citizens.”
ON THE WEBSITE FRAUD ALLEGATION
Fashola On borehole and website fraud allegation says: “As governor of Lagos state, I didn’t sign cheques, none of my commissioners signed cheques.”
ON BORROWING:
Fashola said: “We can’t borrow to pay salaries, we can’t borrow to run generators. Instead of borrowing to run gen I will invest in a power plant
“It is not about the debt but the debt to GDP ratio.
“Where we are today, it is difficult not to go borrowing if we want to save this economy.”
ON SECURITY
Fashola said: “As Governor, I had to be right every time. The criminal had to be right only once.
Fashola said: “There is a necessity to decentralize the police. The burden of managing a state becomes easier when the responsibility is shared by all”
Fashola said: “State police will first address the issue of unemployment of the youths
