The Nigeria Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association (NLPGA) has contested the plan of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) to harmonize the pricing of LPG (cooking gas) in the country, insisting that LPG has been long since deregulated.
The PPPRA was said to have ordered that the stakeholders and off-takers of LPG should surrender their pricing templates to it. The move, seen by stakeholders as regulation of the LPG industry through the back-door, has heightened fear of supply hitch for the product, which is yet to attain its full potential in the country.
However, the NLPGA said the PPPRA could go ahead to develop a pricing template for the product, without necessarily requesting and placing an order for an input from LPG operators.
