- The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arrested immediate past governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam over corruption allegations under his administration.
- Gabriel Suswam was the Benue State governor between May 2007 and May 2015 and has been embroiled in claims of public fund looting.
- It will be recalled that about two weeks ago, the judicial panel of inquiry set-up by present governor, Samuel Ortom, to investigate the Gabriel Suswam administration found out revealing details on how N6.5 billion Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) fund was unaccounted for.
- The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwajuren, confirmed Suswam’s arrest saying, “He was invited by the EFCC in connection with ongoing corruption investigation in Benue state,”
