- In a bid to expand its frontiers in power generation, as well as, create employment, MAN Diesel and Turbo has opened its first office in Nigeria.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Dr. Uwe Lauber, having done business in Nigeria for a long time, there is hope to further grow business affiliations and strengthen partnership with Nigeria. - Managing Director MAN Diesel & Turbo Nigeria, Mr. Adedayo Olowoniyi, noted that the privatisation of the local power market is driving investment, “with only about 5.5 megawatts installed today, there is a substantial need for additional decentralised generation capacity. The country’s overall economy is growing substantially and our products can help companies secure their energy supply without having to depend on the public grid.”
In his remarks, the German Consul General, Mr. Ingo Herbert said that out of the approximately 50,000 active German companies globally, only about 1,000 have registered their presence in Africa. While MAN’s world famous trucks have been a familiar sight for many years, I am very pleased that people and companies in Nigeria now also have direct nationwide access to this company’s great high technology solutions in the field of energy generation. The Government and society of Nigeria are determined to tackle the current challenges in electricity supply and I am confident that MAN Nigeria will make an important contribution here.”
