Staffs of MTN South Africa have been on strike for the fourth week running over salary and wage disputes. According to reports, staff of the company rejected the 8% salary hike which was strangely tied to some performance metrics.
MTN is said to employ over 6,500 people in South Africa and also employs thousands more in Nigeria. This is the first time the company is having to deal with a strike since it was formed in 1994.
MTN Nigeria has also had scuffles with consumers in the past who have often frowned at their poor services. However, no major labour disputes have occurred in Nigeria.
