Ivory Coast has now obtained authorisation from the United States to commence direct flights from the country to the US and vice versa.
Ivory Coast has been seeking authorization from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration for 15 years and have finally seen their wish come true. Before now travelers to Ivory Coast and back had to embark on a rigorous round trip of going through other African countries or via Europe to get to the US.
This is a massive boost for the Ivorian economy following the break out of civil war in 2011 on the back of the elections that saw President Alassane Ouattara emerge as leader. The country has been making economic progress since then and continues the world number one producer of cocoa.
Nigeria’s only direct flights (round trip) to the US is via Delta Airlines and Arik.
