Nigeria-based general merchandise online retailer JUMIA today announced its one year anniversary, as it moves into a 90,000 sqft warehouse in Lagos.
Launched in June 2012 with support from Rocket Internet, JUMIA has grown to become Nigeria’s 4th most visited website, and served over half a million customers, the company said in an official statement.
According to the company, its new warehouse would serve “500 employees and create the largest ecommerce campus in West Africa.”
Commenting, Co-founder Raphael Afaedor said: “Almost a year ago, we started with three employees building up an ecommerce platform in Nigeria. Now, we have more than 500 employees and offer Nigerian’s youth great opportunities to work in one of the leading ecommerce companies in Africa.”
