Effective from 21st of May, 2013 all products to be sold in any Nigerian market must be electronically registered with the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) or risk being confiscated and destroyed.
For those who don’t know the Standard Organization of Nigeria, they have the power to declare Mandatory Industrial Standards in Respect of products or processes recommended by the Nigerian Standards Council. Literally meaning they have the powers to approve anything produced in Nigeria. According to them, the move is in compliance with international standards.
So, if you feel inclined to you can register here
Government policies sometimes are laughable! I do not blame the civil servants for two reasons: work or no work they will earn salaries at the end of the month, they have no understanding of hard work since public office is a means to looting public treasury.
Lol….. I feel you. I guess they just have to show that they are working
Otherwise, i will ask SON what happens to all the appointed preshipment agencies reports and certifications? What about NAFDAC certifications? Does this not amount to duplication of functions and loss of time etc ? So many questions running on my mind.
Nafdac deals with pharmaceutical products. But It’s pretty annoying tho
There is one government agency or the other that deals with every product. DPR deals with petolum
There is one government agency or the other that deals with every product. For instance DPR deals with petrolieum products but recently SON was going round filling stations to take samples of petrolieum prodcudts for samples . How are you sure SON will not requires pharmaceutical to still register their products, time will tell
Off course they do!! It’s all duplication of responsibility. It’s part of what makes businesses difficult to operate.
what about Jamb forms and university education? them need to register those ones too na
