Lagride deploys new vehicles under UBA-financed $100m drive-to-own scheme

I was conducting a research recently on public service expenditure. As expected I had to understand the multitude of nomenclatures that exist in government. One of such words was “Estacode”. It is one terminology that speaks volumes and for that demanded extensive scrutiny. I had to find out how “estacodes” are dished out by other countries as well.

My sojourn ended up being one in astounding futility. Never did I imagine that there wasn’t such a word as “estacode” in the entire English dictionary. It is purely as a Nigerian connotation. Apparently the word ‘estacode” is an acronym for “Establishment Code” which was like a set of rules and guidelines for the public service in countries colonized by the British. Establishment Code is still being used in countries like Pakistan and India but not in the Nigerian sense of it.

In Nigeria, “Estacode” refers to a form of travel allowance given to government officials. As usual we’ve left out the entire meaning of the word in making up an acronym. Next time you hear this word remember it is purely a Nigerian lingua liken to broken English.

This piece lacks ingenuity and shows an attempt to dissuade the public. It’s a reflection of laziness, ignorance and an attempt to dissuade the mind. I expect a respected financial site like nairametrics to scrutinize what gets displayed on their site and not allow emotion-driven, ignorant and lazy writers that lack creativity throw rubbish on the faces of the people. It’s quite annoying seeing this kind of piece. It should be taken down, ASAP.

What exactly is your problem with this article? Considering that it was written years ago. You have failed to identify what you do not like about it.

Comments like these are not encouraging in any way. You just succeeded in bringing down the writer without making a point. Do you have a problem with the subject of the article, his research methodology or the writers conclusion?
