Italian oil producer Eni, on Tuesday, declared a force majeure following an attack on a key gas pipeline in southern Nigeria.
This is because the Ogbaimbiri–Tebidaba pipeline was attacked by suspected militants.
According to Eni, the attack on the pipeline, which is the second in a month has led to an oil output loss equivalent to 4,200 barrels per day.
Militants suspected to be members of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) had carried out attacks in the area on May 18 which resulted to a shutdown of some 1,000 barrels bringing a cumulative production loss to 5,200 barrels of the oil firm’s share of oil output.
