According to the “State of Ransomware 2024”, organizations that paid the ransom reported an average payment of $2 million, up from $400,000 recorded in 2022.
It also found that paying a ransom to recover the encrypted data doubles recovery costs for organizations.
Chainalysis estimates that ransomware payments in the year 2021 hit at least $602 million.
