Farmers in Gombe state now have cause to cheer as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday said it will disburse the sum of N660 million to the farmers under the Federal Government’s Anchor Borrower scheme.
This was revealed by the Head of Development Finance Department of CBN, Gombe branch, Sani Muhammad Chobe, on Thursday, at a two-day fair and workshop for stakeholders.
He said plans have been concluded to commence the disbursement of the grant to the first and second batch of the beneficiaries next week.
He added that the grant is aimed at boosting the production of rice and tomato, and also announced that a grants for the third batch of beneficiaries in the state is being processed.
Earlier, Acting Gombe Branch Controller of the CBN, Hamza Jibrin, said the sensitization covers all the bank’s initiatives as well as real sector interventions.
Represented at the event by Sani Muhammad Chobe, he pointed out that the CBN supports both government and stakeholders towards promoting strong economic growth and development.
According to the Dailytrust, the two-day maiden fair was organised by the CBN, to showcase the bank’s activities towards improving the economy across all sectors.
