When it comes to buying groceries, household appliances, mobile devices, electronics, and other items, online shopping has become the most popular option since the pandemic started. The rapid internet penetration and an increasingly youthful population have contributed to this growth.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, e-commerce is gradually impacting the retail sector. According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the number of online shoppers in Africa has increased by 18% each year since 2014.

Nigeria recorded a volume of $12 billion transactions on online purchases in 2020. As more people take their businesses online, this trend and competition will continue to grow. Here are the top eCommerce sites in Nigeria in 2021

Jumia

Jumia is Nigeria’s most popular online shopping platform, offering the largest selection of electronics, apparel, home appliances, children’s items, and more, all of which can be delivered to your home or workplace. Jumia has a presence in over 14 African countries.

Sacha Poignonnec, Raphael Kofi Afaedor, and Tunde Kehinde founded the company in 2012. According to Alexa.com, a global internet traffic ranking firm, Jumia Nigeria’s eCommerce website, was ranked 1,503 in global internet engagement and the thirteenth most visited website in Nigeria as of April 2020.

Jumia’s marketplace also includes ecommerce services such as “Black Friday” sales events, “Jumia Prime” free delivery, business purchasing membership, and direct buying from overseas.


Konga

Konga is one of Nigeria’s largest online malls. The company was launched in July 2012 by Sim Shagaya with a mission to become the engine of commerce and trade in Africa.

Konga serves a retail customer base that continues to grow exponentially, offering products that span across various categories like Phones, Computers, Clothing, Shoes, Home Appliances, Books, healthcare, Baby Products, personal care, and much more.

The company offers a range of services designed to ensure an optimum level of convenience and customer satisfaction with the retail process. Konga currently has over 1 million downloads on playstore.


Jiji

Jiji Nigeria is the largest online shopping classified that connects buyers and sellers by allowing them to meet and trade products and services. Jiji’s mobile App is one of the top ten most downloaded apps in Nigeria, according to Google Play data. Anton Wolyansky created Jiji in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2014.

On Jiji, you can buy and sell anything online like new and used cars, phones, fashion clothing and shoes, electronics, houses, and more. You can even find or post job vacancies on Jiji.

Jiji has been operating in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, and Tanzania since 2019. On Google Play, Jiji presently has over 5,000,000 downloads.


Ebeosi

Ebeosi is an ecommerce marketplace that serves as a connection between buyers and sellers of products in Nigeria and a host of other countries like the USA, UK, Germany, Poland, South Korea, France, Italy, etc.

Launched in 2019, by Chibueze Josh Izugbo, the platform’s goal is to promote the purchasing experience for customers who wish to shop based on the items’ place of origin, as well as the conditions under which they were manufactured and who made them.

Ebeosi, also offers a buy now pay later option for its customers in partnership with Carbon to shop on credit on Ebeosi from one hundred thousand and above and pay back without interest over six months.


Kusnap

Kusnap is an easy-to-use platform that links millions of consumers and sellers around the country. It uses a simple snap-to-sell and chat-to-buy approach with a fantastic user experience, allowing it to transcend trading borders.

Kusnap is committed to ensuring that individuals, retailers, and wholesalers come together for a common business purpose by integrating into the marketplace a variety of features such as groups and the ability to list multiple products across varying categories.

Nigeria’s business and economic environment have been transformed by e-commerce. As more players enter the market, Nigeria will continue to see massive growth in the number of online shoppers as online payment technology and last-mile deliveries improve.
