13 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria, as 3 more people die

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 13 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus infections in Nigeria. Out of the 13 new cases, 11 are in Lagos state, 1 in Delta, and 1 in Kano states. The NCDC made this announcement through its official Twitter handle. 

13 new cases of #COVID19 have been reported; 11 in Lagos, 1 in Delta & 1 in Kano

As at 9:30pm 11th April there are 318 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 70 have been discharged with 10 deaths

With this development, the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria has reached 318. The cases are spread across 19 states of the federation, as well as the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the NCDC, the distribution across the states is as follows; Lagos- 174, FCT- 56, Osun– 20, Edo- 12, Oyo- 11, Ogun– 7, Bauchi– 6, Kaduna- 6, Akwa Ibom– 5, Katsina-4, Delta- 3, Enugu- 2, Ekiti– 2, Rivers-2, Kwara– 2, Ondo– 2, Benue- 1, Niger- 1, Anambra– 1  and Kano-1.

Earlier on Saturday, the Commissioner of Health in Lagos had announced the confirmation of 8 new cases of COVID-19 and 1 new death in the state. It is not clear if this figure is captured in the announcement that was later made by the NCDC.

The NCDC also announced that two new laboratories have been activated in Kano and Plateau states for COVID-19 testing. These bring the total number of molecular laboratories in the country to 11. Other laboratories are also being set up in Maiduguri, Sokoto, Port Harcourt, and Kaduna.

Meanwhile, following isolation and treatment, 70 patients have so far recovered and been discharged. Unfortunately, 10 people have died of Coronavirus in Nigeria. Three of the deaths occurred on Saturday.
