Taking the latest cash holdings of tech billionaire and philanthropist, Bill Gates into consideration, each citizen of Africa’s largest economy could receive a significant amount of cash.

The Bloomberg Billionaire Index reports that the 65-year-old billionaire holds $61.9 billion in bank accounts. Furthermore, Nigeria’s population of 211,688,931 indicates he can afford to give each citizen $292.

Just this year, Bill Gates gained $20.4 billion in wealth. It is estimated that he is worth $152 billion, increasing at a snowball’s pace

Microsoft, one of the world’s largest software companies, is co-founded by Gates, one of the wealthiest men on earth. The Redmond, Washington-based company is also owned by him in an amount of approximately 1%.

Microsoft Windows, which holds a leading position in the world’s personal computer market today, was the brainchild of Gates who simplified the operating system by creating it.

Gates was famously the richest person in the world for many years. Presently, his wealth is equivalent to 83.7 million troy ounces or 2.14 billion barrels of crude oil.

With investments in financial assets, real estate, and collectables, perhaps, his most significant and lasting contribution may be the philanthropic mission by which he donates huge sums to help improve the world.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is among the largest charitable foundations in the United States, funding many worthy causes. Since the foundation began (the most recent data of Q1 2021), it has granted $54.8 billion in grants.

He recently told reporters that his children will get the best education possible, but they won’t live off an inheritance.

“It’s not a favour to kids to have children with massive amounts of money. It creates a path that distorts whatever they do,” said he. “Our children will get a great education and some money, so they will never be poor.”
