As part of the ongoing reorganizations in the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly approved the appointment of Rt. Hon. (Engr) Victor Ochei as NIMASA’s new Executive Director of Maritime Labor and Cabotage Services
Although there has not been any official confirmation, the Chief Press Secretary to Rt Hon. Victor Ochei disclosed that the appointment was a sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the Director-General, Dr Dakuku Peterside and the other Executive Directors who were inaugurated on March 10, 2016.
This is coming in the heels of the reported removal of the two Executive Directors of the Agency. The Executive Directors are Gambo Ahmed (Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services) and Rotimi Fasakin (Operations).
It could be recalled that about 5 days ago, the Federal Government announced the appointment of Bashir Jamoh as the new Director-General/Chief Executive of NIMASA. Until his appointment, Jamoh was the Executive Director Finance and Administration at NIMASA. He has over 32 years of working experience in the maritime and transportation sector.
The newly appointed Executive Director, Victor Ochei, who was a former Speaker of the fifth Delta State House of Assembly is a consummate Grassroot politician who has a deep knowledge of engineering, financial management, corporate governance, education administration, legal partitioning. he is also a businessman and philanthropist
