Nigerian airline, Aero contractors has signed a partnership deal with the Indian software provider, Ramco. The deal, which is said to worth millions of naira, entails Ramco providing improved digital solutions to Aero’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services.

Speaking on the deal, the Chief Executive Officer of Aero Contractors, Capt. Ado Sanusi said the airline’s MRO services can now be accessed and tracked in real-time for enhanced efficiency. He added that it had cost it about N200 million since the automation process commenced.

He said digitalizing the process had become important because of the MRO growth over time in terms of demands from Nigeria and other African countries.

General Manager of Ramco’s Africa, Europe, and Middle East region, Menaka Sinha explained that once the project is implemented, it would automate manual work execution processes and enable organization-wide visibility.

“With modules for planning, work execution, stores, procurement, MRO sales, and billing process, Ramco’s integrated aviation M&E MRO solution automates and optimizes Aero Contractors’ MRO services,” she said.

Sinha made known that at the end of the project, Aero would optimize employee utilization and improve efficiency and accuracy in billing processes. According to her, the Ramco Aviation Software, which is a full web-centric application developed from the ground-up specifically for the aviation industry, is trusted by over 22,000 users to manage more than 4,000 aircraft globally.

About Aero Contractors: Aerocontractors was formed in 1959 but commenced operations in 1960. Aerocontractors was taken over by the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON). At that time, it was wholly owned by Schreiner Airways BV, a Norwegian company.  It became a Nigerian company in 1977 in anticipation of the indigenization degree of 1977.

In January 2004, Schreiner Airways was bought by CHC helicopter, which acquired a 40% holding in Aero, while 60% was held by the Ibru family. In 2010, CHC sold its interests in Aero to the Ibru family. The Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) took over the airline in February 2016 when it became the majority creditor.
