Frozen 2, Disney’s popular animation movie, has crossed $1 billion mark at the global box office, making it Disney Label’s third animation movie to earn a billion dollar after Zootopia and the original Frozen.
Breakdown of the earnings: The movie has earned a total of $366.5 million in the United States since it hit the cinemas on the 22nd of November 2019. The other roughly $666 million earnings came from foreign tickets with China leading the way with $104.4 million followed closely by South Korea with $75.4 million and Japan with $55.2 million, amongst other countries.
The current earnings for Frozen 2 makes it the 11th highest-earning animated film of all time in the U.S. The ranking is said to most likely improve more in the coming weeks as Frozen is close to the 9th and 10th positions on the chart that is currently held by the movies, The Secret Life of Pets and Despicable Me 2, respectively.
What you should know: This feat accomplished by Frozen 2, according a reports disclosed makes it Disney’s sixth movie to gross over $1 billion in 2019.
Other movies that crossed the billion-dollar milestone include Aladdin, Toy Story 4, Captain Marvel, The Lion King, and Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is a Marvel co-production movie with Sony.

Disney’s dominance: Disney seems to be doing well in terms of churning out high earned grossing movies as the studio most times has a connection with movies that do well such as Spiderman and others. The only billion-dollar movie of 2019 that Disney has no connection to whatsoever is Joker with $1.05 billion earned worldwide.
Nairametrics had reported when Lion King animation hit the highest-grossing animation movie, having grossed over $1.3 billion from different revenue streams, displacing original Frozen which stood at $1.276 billion and Incredible 2.
