Dangote Industries Limited has begun rudimentary work on its 18-floor Global Headquarters in Ikoyi, Lagos. The development will relocate the group’s corporate head office situated at Ikoyi to a permanent residency by 2020.
Dangote group currently operates from Union Marble House situated on Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi where it occupies floors of workspaces.
The proposed project will move the conglomerate’s operations to a permanent location imprinted in the group’s recognisable trademark.
The 18-floor structure is planned on Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi. Upon completion, it will join the league of signature towers and skyscrapers in West Africa.
Progress on the mega project has been obscured from media attention; an official of the Dangote group noted. The initial process was stalled due to litigation, however, constructions have resumed.
The project will pass through the finest architectural routine for 24 months to produce an enviable powerhouse ascribed to the Dangote group.
The group, whose industrial tentacle span across various sectors including cement, sugar, salt, condiments, flour, energy, fertilizer etc, records positive financial returns on yearly basis. In 2017, the conglomerate closed its book to the tune of ₦1.1 trillion. Most recently, Dangote Cement Plc revenue up 16% to ₦242 billion. The group stands out as the largest conglomerate in West Africa; its headquarters fitted in a shared space on Alfred Rewane Road, formerly Kingsway Road, Ikoyi.
The development to switch to a permeant location is long due and could be the major reason for isolating the progress pace of the project.
Inside the multibillion-dollar headquarter
The bulk of the global project will be overseen by Dangote Industries limited, through the group’s property development subsidiaries – MHF Properties. The project employed some construction and consultancy companies. Some of these companies are:
James Cubitt Architects (JCA)
JCA is a London based company with affiliation in Nigeria, fitted to produce the architectural design for Dangote head office. They have a long history handling major office structural design. Diamond bank VI headquarters was designed by this company.
Aedas
Aedas is an international architectural and interior designer. The company is responsible for quantifiable world’s iconic structures in Singapore, Taiwan, Dubai, Europe, Shanghai. The company is responsible for the Interiors job.
KOA Consultants
KOA Consultants Ltd will undertake the mechanical and electrical job. KOA is a Nigerian engineering company with long service in its operational space, The company has powered recognisable projects; Bay Atlantic Tower, CBN Headquarter in Yenegoa, Bayelsa state, Zenith bank headquarter in Accra, Ghana.
Other contractors are; Trevi Foundations Nigeria Limited, Tillyards Nigeria Limited, Phoenix Advanced Engineering, MOA Limited awarded.
