  • The newly appointed GO was the former Special Assistant to the General Overseer (SATGO) on Finance.
  • Obayemi was appointed the new GO at the Annual Ministers Thanksgiving at Shimawa, in Ogun State.
  • Adeboye also appointed Pastor Johnson Odesola, who was the Special Assistant on Administration and Personnel, as the church Secretary Pastor Adeyokunnu as church Treasurer.

Update: Leke Adeboye, son of Pastor Adeboye, in a statement released, said that the ex-GO had to handover leadership due to the Corporate Governance Code introduced by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN). The code states that the head of non governmental organizations like churches, can only lead for a maximum of twenty years.
