Nigerians will once more witness the pyramids of Kano, but this time it will not be the popular groundnut, but rice.

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, said on Friday that his government was concluding plans to provide incentives to rice farmers. This he believes will increase rice production in the country.

Ganduje gave this information while granting interview with State House correspondents after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

He said in no short time, groundnut pyramids will be replaced with rice pyramids in Kano.

“Now, we are soon going to talk about rice pyramids, not groundnut pyramids because rice is the order of the day now.

“We have a lot of oil mills that consume the groundnut. So, you will not expect to see the groundnut pyramids as you used to see because the economic situation has changed.

“The industrialisation is much better than those days.

“So, you better stop dreaming of groundnut pyramids now. But when you are talking of rice, that is where we need the pyramids now.

“So, we assure you that in Kano we are providing an enabling environment for the production of rice, wheat, and tomatoes,” he said.
