The Senate has agreed to the decision of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, to review downward the salaries and allowances of members of the upper legislative chamber by 50 percent.
The senator representing Katsina Central, Umaru Ibrahim Kurfi, dropped the hint yesterday during a chat with Senate correspondents in Abuja.
The Senate had recently rejected a cut in their salaries and allowances by suspending consideration of the report of its Finance Committee, following sharp disagreements over recommendations by the committee.
But Senator Kurfi said the upper chamber has agreed to a 50 percent pay cut in line with the policy of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to ensure prudence in public spending and restore dignity to governance in the country.
