  • Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has said that work would soon commence on the $1.5 billion petrochemical plant located in Ibeno
  • Udom, who stated this yesterday while speaking with newsmen, said when completed, the plant would generate a lot of employment opportunities for the people of the state.
  • It would be recalled that the ground breaking event of the plant was performed by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan last year. He also said that the government had put everything in place for the take-off of the plant.

“We have done the environmental impact assessment, the Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) has been issued and the site has been cleared and ready for work to start. Once the gas purchase agreement with Exxon Mobile is finalised, work will commence immediately,” the Governor stated.

I hope the govt and Exxon are planning to build wider roads than what Ibeno currently has, to anticipate the population increase due to the Petrochemical project. The roads right now in Eket are far below standard.
