Three years ago, Nigerians went to the streets protesting against the planned removal of fuel subsidy by the Jonathan administration. Back then, the government went all out to support the policy and went as far as inviting top government officials including its stars Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Diezani and Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to give a pitch to labour and Nigerians on the need to remove fuel subsidy (or like he said, move subsidy to production and not consumption).
In the video he made some telling prediction that could happen if subsidy is not removed. Here is the video (watch out for how many times he mentions “Ngozi” and “next government”)
Things have since change, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who fell out with the Jonathan Government and was booted out of the CBN last year is now the Emir of Kano. Diezani is these days is seen as the face of a beleaguered and corrupt NNPC whilst Ngozi Okonjo Iweala reign as the Minister of Finance is largely seen as disappointing. Jonathan off course has lost the election and Buhari is president elect. More Nigerians are probably now favorably disposed to fuel subsidy removal.
