The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s latest macroeconomic projections that go out to 2030, displayed in the chart below has named Nigeria amongst the top twenty economies in the world by 2030. The research projects the US will continue to lead the world economies with a GDP of about $24.8trillion and closely followed by China with about $22.2trillion. India another country like Nigeria is third in their projections with $6.6trillion.
The report put Nigeria at second from bottom at $1trillion and the only African country in the list. Nigeria overtook South Africa in 2013 as largest economy in Africa after it concluded its GDP rebasing exercise. See below
