Could this be the next big thing after oil?? The Federal Government through the Minister of Agriculture has indicated massive investments in this sector and it appears the big players are rising the wave. According to Leadership, Dangote has invested over N85billion in the sector alone.
Described as the single biggest private sector investment in the agriculture sector in Nigeria’s history, the Dangote Group’s ongoing agricultural investments in the country has surpassed N85billion, the company’s Group President Aliko Dangote has said. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who was represented by the MD/CEO, Dangote Sugar Refinery, Mr Abdullahi Sule at the ongoing 2013 National Agricultural Show in Nasarawa State, said the investment cuts across different states and different sub-sectors of the agriculture sector.
It will be interesting to see how much Agriculture gets in the proposed 2014 Budget next year. I believe the Minister will be presenting his budget next year.
