Since its inception in 2011, the value of mobile payment transaction has hit N74.3billion, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said yesterday.
The volume of transaction during the period under review, according to the apex bank, stood at 6.8million from 5.7m customers across 51,095 agents.
Giving this figure while presenting a paper entitled, ‘Viable Agent Banking& Mobile Payments System in Nigeria’ at the 18th Seminar for Finance Correspondents and Business Editors, in Umuahia, Abia state, CBN’s Director of Banking and Payments System, Titus Fatokun, also said the number of Mobile Payments Scheme Operators stands at 18.
