I received a not so ordinary BB Message on Sunday from my friend Emma, which I would like to share. It goes like this?
Three guys go to hotel and the Room Manager tells them a room is $30. They each contribute $10 each to make up the $30 and then move into the room. The Manager however, realizes the room was actually $25 not $30 and then gives the bell boy $5 as refund to the men. The bell boy on getting to the room door wondered how he can split $5 between 3 men. He however, decides the best thing to do is to give each of them $1 and then pocket $2 for himself. He does that and feels satisfied with himself.
With the men now each effectively paying $9, each making $27 and the bell boy pocketing $2 where then is the balance $1??? Haha! Now your reading the question over and over again isn’t it?

To solve this you will have to write the question down on a piece of paper and churn out an equation.
10+10+10-0= 30 (amount paid at first)
– 1+ 1+ 1+2= 5
——————- —
9+ 9 + 9 -2= 25
Basically, what this means is that there is no $1 missing in the first place. Why? Well, they collectively get Refunded $27 instead of $25 because they were short changed by the Bell Boy by $2. Therefore, the actual math should be $27-$2 rather than $30-$27-$1. Reason again is because the Bell Boy isn’t part of the 3 men who get a refund.
If you didn’t get this don’t feel bad cos it took me 8 hours to crack it till I wrote it down on paper.
