Nigeria’s New Finance Minister Failed To Diversify Ogun State
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Linkedin

Kemi Adeosun who was appointed as finance minister by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari failed to diversify in the subnational state of Ogun in her earlier stint as finance commissioner there.

Adeosun was most recently finance commissioner of Ogun state in southwestern Nigeria for the past four years, succeeding Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a former World Bank managing director.

Adeosun faces an oil-dependent country that is suffering from a fall in crude prices in the past year, an economy growing at its slowest pace this decade, and increasing unease among business-people and investors that currency restrictions imposed by the central bank are choking activity.

What do you mean she failed to diversify Ogun State? Why do you fake journalists spoil the work and role of journalism in the society? Why do you choose to feed the society wrong information atimes just to serve your own sentiments. If this was a personal opinion, then it is a different case, but coming on social media and propagating lies and wrong information is detrimental and could even affect investors’ sentiment globally. It is clear you were shocked and annoyed that your expectation- Okechukwu Enelamah did not make that portfolio. Does that mean you should then begin to castigate the lady even before she starts in her new role.

For record purposes, it was during her time in Ogun State, that Ogun State hosted an Investor’s Forum where former mexican president was invited to speak to the audience about Agriculture and Tourism, to promote and foster diversification and more importantly enable young farmers who are interested in that sector.

Also, for record purposes, it was during her time that Ogun State’s Internally Generated Revenue more than doubled to 17 Billion naira annually as compared to where it was before then. Ogun State is now in the top 5 in the entire country in terms of IGR, and you come here and give the public wrong information.

If I may ask, which local role has Okechukwu Enelamah handled before in Nigeria and where did he ever diversify a locality or community talkless of a state, Mr Melik? or is it Ms. Melik?
