The Federal Government has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reorganisation of the management of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in a bid to make service delivery more effective.

This was disclosed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing (FMWH), Mrs Boade Akinola, on Wednesday in Abuja.

She disclosed that the aim of the restructuring is to generate new businesses and jobs in the construction industry through the enhancement and implementation of the maintenance of FHA estates across the country in line with the Federal Public Assets Maintenance policy approved by the Federal Executive Council.

What the FG is saying

Mrs Akinola stated that the new structure of the Authority has the following departments: Estates Services, Housing, Finance and Accounts, Management Services, Project Implementation, Research and Innovation Development.

“The expansion of the Management of the Authority would bring a lot of advantages which include attraction of new investments in the construction of new estates across the country.

“It would also generate new jobs and businesses, in line with Mr. President’s promise of taking 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years,” she said.

In case you missed it

Recall Nairametrics disclosed earlier this month that Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo revealed that under the Social Housing Scheme of the Economic Sustainability Plan, thousands of jobs have been created with the use of local building materials in the country.

Osinbajo also disclosed that the social housing scheme has so far seen 1,151.689 hectares of land made ready for development, as the target is to build 300,000 houses with a capacity to accommodate a further 34,550 homes.

He added that the programme is being funded by a mix of resources, including financing from the Federal Ministry of Finance, and a loan from the Central Bank under the ESP.
