Gbajabiamila Wins APC’s Election For Speakership

Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila of the Surulere Federal Constituency l of Lagos State has won the straw election organised by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Saturday to pick consensus candidate for Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Gbajabiamila scored 154 votes out of 182 members accredited to emerge candidate at the election held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

His opponent Yakubu Dogara got 3.

Mr. Dogara and his supporters walked out before the poll, saying the election was more like an ambush as the party did not tell the candidates that they were going to conduct the primaries.
